“Has it been a longtime dream of yours to own a B & B?”
A number of guests have asked us this question and really the answer is “no”. The inspiration to buy a bed and breakfast in Prescott came to me suddenly in mid-January 2013. Ten days later we drove up from Tempe to look at properties. The following week, our offer for this pistachio green Victorian bed & breakfast was accepted. In less than four months, we became the fourth owners of the Pleasant Street Inn, doing our best to carry on the fine tradition of the Inn and bringing a bit of ourselves into the mix.
David’s background is in hospitality. But the fast pace of a hotel left little time for the best part of the job - chatting with the guests about their travels and interests! He has a passion for customer service and was always delighted when he had the opportunity to make a hotel guest’s stay a bit more special.
Trained at Scottsdale Culinary Institute and seasoned as a pastry chef at the Prescott Resort, our sister-in-law Deanne has had an all-consuming passion for creating magic with food since she was a little girl. When we asked if she would do the food for us, she was thrilled to have the opportunity and we were honored (and relieved!) that she would be the creative force behind our wonderful dishes and desserts.
As for me, I am in my element when I have a design project. Or get me on my soapbox about local, organic, unprocessed foods and I could go on forever.
So it has been wonderful to see how our seemingly different interests have fit together as interlocking passions to shape this bed & breakfast experience for you. We look forward to sharing our town, our Inn and our passions and hearing about yours!
